Diversity and Inclusion

The QLDSESVA believes in treating all people with respect and dignity. We strive to create and foster a supportive and understanding environment in which all individuals can contribute to our organisation regardless of their differences. 

The QLDSESVA is diverse across many dimensions. Our diversity encompasses differences in ethnicity, gender, language, age, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, physical and mental ability, thinking styles, experience, and education. We believe that the wide array of perspectives that results from such diversity promotes innovation and success. Supporting diversity makes us more understanding, creative, flexible and productive.   

We actively work to eliminate discrimination and systemic barriers, fostering a culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered when representing or working for the QLDSESVA. We will support flexible working arrangements and promote inclusive behaviors through our policies, practices, and leadership.

Indigenous Heritage

The QLDSESVA acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, skies, waters, and community. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

We acknowledge and encourage the unique contribution First Nations peoples can make to the operation and enhancement of our organisation and encourage their participation in the QLDSESVA for the improvement of the volunteer experience for all Queensland State Emergency Service volunteers.

Multi-culturalism

The QLDSESVA recognises Australia is one of the most multi-cultural societies in the world. We appreciate, respect and understand the many benefits that this multitude of cultures, experiences, beliefs and traditions brings to our nation. The QLDSESVA encourages and supports our members from all cultural backgrounds and encourage their ongoing participation in, and contribution to, our organisation.
